Jennifer S. Gray, Ph.D.
Dramatist & Drama Teacher

Collaborating with students to create theater gives them voice and opportunity to develop their artistic and expressive abilities. This has been both my passion and occupation for many years. I have been, in turn, founding director of Arkansas Arts Centers Children’s Theater (Little Rock, AR), teacher of theater at St. Columba of Iona Secondary (Glasgow, Scotland), instructor of theater at University of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), instructor of speech at Peabody College for Teachers of Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN), founding director of The Imaginers Theater Company (Nashville), program director at Wharton Arts Magnet School (Nashville), dramatist/teacher at Creswell Arts Magnet School (Nashville), interim teacher of drama at the International School of Azerbaijan, secondary school drama teacher & interim elementary principal at International School of Sosua (Dominican Republic) and IB Diploma & MYP Drama Teacher at international schools in Dhaka (Bangladesh), Mumbai (India) and Maputo (Mozambique). Awards and accolades I have received for my work include a Fulbright Award to study in Japan, a Frist Grant to study in London, and Brotherhood-Sisterhood Award from the National Conference for Community and Justice for promoting peace and understanding through theatre. There have been hundreds of performances of the plays I have written and performed with The Imaginers Theatre Company, plus those produced collaboratively with students.  The photos you will see span many years, continents, and performing venues, from schools to science museums to state fairs. Enjoy!
